ASEAN 50TH ANNIVERSARY IN MEXICO CITY
On 8th August, H.E. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico, as the Chair of ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) and his spouse, Madam Amelia Azhar hosted the 50th ASEAN Anniversary Celebration at the Embassy of Malaysia in Mexico City. The event was well attended by all the ASEAN’s Ambassadors in Mexico City namely, Ambassador of Indonesia and his spouse, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Presence also were Home-Based staff and their spouses from all the five ASEAN Embassies. The auspicious day started with the raising of Jalur Gemilang accompanied by Negaraku and raising of ASEAN’s flag accompanied by ASEAN Anthem. This was followed by remarks from the host. After the formalities, guests were treated to a `food diplomacy` of scrumptious breakfast menu from the five ASEAN countries. Malaysia served its famous beef rendang - nasi lemak, prepared by PERWAKILAN (Ladies Group of the Embassy) - accompanied by other authentic Malaysian cuisine such as roti jala, chicken curry, seri muka and curry puff.
