ASEAN Bazaar, Teatro Angela Peralta, Mexico City, 9 November 2013
The ASEAN Embassies in Mexico, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, organised the annual ASEAN charity bazaar at the Teatro Angela Peralta in Polanco, Mexico City on 9 November 2013. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Pablo Lozano, Joint Director-General, Department of the Asia Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Ambassadors Sergio Ley of COMCE, the ASEAN Ambassadors in Mexico, Namely H.E. Hamdani Djafar, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Dato´ Jamaiyah M. Yusof, Ambassador of Malaysia, H.E. Chirachai Punkrasin, Ambassador of Thailand, H.E. Tung Le Thanh, Ambassador of Vietnam, and Mr. Angelo Amonoy, Charge d´affaires of the Philippines.
The ASEAN Bazaar is one of the major events organized by the newly-established ASEAN Committee in Mexico City to promote better understanding of ASEAN to the Mexican public through cultural performances and sales of traditional foods, arts and crafts. The students of the University of Ixtlahuaca performed three Malaysian traditional dances while the home-based staff prepared food for sale.
