ASEAN COMMITTEE IN MEXICO CITY (ACMC) WORKING VISIT TO THE STATE OF QUERETARO, MEXICO

On 12^th October 2017, under Malaysia`s Chairmanship, the ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) undertook a Working Visit to the State of Queretaro, Mexico. The ACMC delegation comprised 4 Ambassadors (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand & Philippines) and 1 Charge d’Affaires a.i (Vietnam) together with their respective officials.  The program outline was a  courtesy call on the Honourable Mr. Francisco Domíguez Servién, Governor of Queretaro; meeting with the Centre for Engineering and Industrial Development (CIDESI) - part of a System of Research Centres managed by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT); and a visit to Aeronautical University of Queretaro (UNAQ).  Among the objectives of the visit were:

                      i.        To expand ASEAN’s bilateral trade with Mexico especially in the State of Queretaro;

                    ii.        To promote and brand ASEAN products and services in the State of Queretaro by showcasing the achievements of their service providers and manufacturers of international levels;

                   iii.        To better understand and learn about the capabilities and strengths of the industry sectors in the State of Queretaro; and

                   iv.        To explore potential collaboration in the State of Queretaro for ASEAN companies.

The visit availed possible joint ventures, strategic partnerships and collaboration between ASEAN nations with the State of Queretaro in sectors such as aerospace; automotive parts and components; agriculture; Information and Communication Technologies; and food and beverages.   In all, the visit was successful in opening doors for trade and investment between individual ASEAN nations with the State of Queretaro.
