On 15 March, Head of Missions from ASEAN Embassies namely from Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam attended a briefing by officials from the Economic Promotion and Tourism of the Municipality of Los Cabos, Mexico at the Embassy of Indonesia.
Officials from Los Cabos were proposing an ASEAN Food and Culture week at its municipality sometime in July this year on a win-win basis to attract more tourist to Los Cabos and at the same time introducing them to ASEAN. The officials had also proposing to make this as an annual event for Los Cabos.
Los Cabos is a municipality located at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, in the state of Baja California Sur. It encompasses the two towns of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo linked by a twenty-mile Resort Corridor of beach-front properties and championship golf courses. The main draw is its climate and landscape, where desert meets the sea, along with sport fishing, resorts and golf. These tourism are by far the main economic activities with over two million visitors per year, where half of the number were tourists from the US.
