ASIAN AMBASSADORS HIGHLIGHT MANZANILLO
It has become the main gateway for foreign trade in Mexico, they say.
The ambassadors of Thailand, Indonesia, Viet Nam, Malaysia and the Philippines agreed that Manzanillo has become the main gateway for foreign trade in Mexico. This, due to the port facilities and logistics operations in safety and operability.
In a courtesy visit they were received by the Director Integral Port Administration (API), Jorge Ruben Bustos Espino, and by the President of the Mexican Council of Foreign Trade (COMCE), Hugo Herrera Mier.
The director of the API reported on the main operations of the port, which last year reached 2.5 million of the 28 million tons of cargo and containers.
He addressed briefly projects growth to the North to double the capacity of the site operations in the coming years.
On efficiency in operations, he mentioned they are working to reduce the stay of containers.
"Some last for 5 or 6 days, other much less and so we work collaboratively with the port and especially with the maritime Customs", he explained.
Regarding security, he emphasized the participation of the Navy of Mexico so that growth of the cargo has not prevented the confiscation of merchandise that is intended to enter illegally, including drugs.
The ambassadors are: Surasak Chuasukonthip of Thailand and Chairman of the Committee of ASEAN in Mexico; Yusra Khan of Indonesia; Mohammad Azhar Bin Mazlan, Malaysia; Catalino Jr. Dilem Reinante, Philippines and the Ambassador of Viet Nam, Linh Lan Le.
In the Entourage travel in addition Enrique Michel, President of the Southeast Asian-Mexico bilateral business Committee of the COMCE; Miguel Angel Landeros, President COMCE Occidente, Agustín Garcia Rechy, Director for Asia and Oceania of the COMCE National Section.
The meeting was attended by representatives of major operators like HAZESA, OCUPA and CONTECON, as well as honorary consuls as Héctor Mora.
They generated exchange of views with regard to the opportunities for better trade relations affecting growth of the port.
Jorge Rubén Bustos recognized the work of the COMCE for promoting greater trade and especially exports. “
