On 6th October, in a gesture of solidarity with Mexico following the earthquake calamity, ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) led by HE Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico, in his capacity as the Chair of ACMC, gathered at the headquarters of Mexican Red Cross for a brief cheque presentation ceremony. Present were the Ambassadors of Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, respectively together with their ACMC Technical Working Group officials.
Ambassador Azhar handed over the cheque and ACMC`s plaque to Mr Jose Antonio Monroy Zermeno, Secretary General of Mexican Red Cross. In his brief remarks, Ambassador Azhar expressed ACMC’s solidarity with the Mexican people in their period of grief and difficulty following the calamity. He stated that ACMC collected cash contribution from each ASEAN Embassies towards assisting the quake victims. In his response, the Secretary General thanked the ACMC for their collective efforts towards this noble cause.
