On 28th September 2017, Mr. Bernardo Orozco, Director of International Affairs from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) of Mexico called on H.E. Mr. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico at the Chancery. He was accompanied by Mr. Eder Salas, Head of Bilateral Affairs from SAGARPA and  Kameelan Consortium’s representatives in Latin America, Mr. Ricardo Aragon and Mr. David Enriquez. Kameelan Consortium is a Malaysian private company comprising a group of experienced professional consultants providing their expertise in Islamic Banking and Finance, Economic Transformation as well as Halal Industries.  Also present was Mr. Mohd. Hafiz Abdul Jalil, Trade Commissioner, MATRADE Mexico City.

 

The purpose of the call was to debrief H.E Ambassador on the progress of setting up the Mexico Halal Institute by Kameelan Consortium with the full support of SAGARPA as well as to explore opportunities in the Halal and Agri-business sectors between both countries. Apart from that, the meeting also discussed on the possibility of signing an MoU between Mexico and Malaysia in areas of Food and Agricultural Trade and the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investment with a view of enhancing trade and investment between Malaysia and Mexico.
