On 4th September 2015, HE Ambassador Mohammad Azhar Mazlan made courtesy call on Ing. Cuauhtémoc Cardenas, Coordinator for International Affairs for Mexico City Government.
Both sides discussed issues of mutual interests particularly on the Mexico City government policy toward administrating the metropolitan of 21 million city dwellers.
Ambassador shared information on Kuala Lumpur as well as Putrajaya as a green city. Both sides agreed to look into the possibility of Mexico City and Kuala Lumpur to be sister-city.
While Mexico City, as the capital of the country, has long and illustrious history having many things to share with the world. The possibilities of collaboration have raised many topics that Mexico has shared with other countries with regard to health, security, mobility programs, culture and tourism.
Ambassador Mohammad Azhar Mazlan shared the main issues in Malaysian cities vis-a-vis pollution, reducing it with the implementation of a green zone and encouraging people to use bicycle; traffic jam and public transport (enhancing the service delivery for the citizens).
