COURTESY CALL
On 5 April, H.E. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico paid a courtesy call on Madame Nuvia Mayorga Delgado, Director General of the National Commission for the Development of Indigenous People`s Mexico at her office. The purpose of the call was to learn about Mexico`s programs for its indigenous people as well as to explore the possibility of exchanging experiences between both countries. Ambassador informed Madame Mayorga that for Malaysia there is Department of Orang Asli Development under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development that provides socio-development program for the orang asli including infrastructure, housing and education. He explained that the main principle is to uplift their socio-economic status while maintaining their identity and tradition. Madame Mayorga expressed her interest in working on an agreement to exchange experiences in the field, especially in the education sector for the indigenous peoples between Malaysia and Mexico.
