On 26th July 2017, H.E. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico had a dinner meeting with PETRONAS officials at Blossom Restaurant, Mexico City. The PETRONAS delegation was led by Mr. Faisal Bakar, Country Head (Designate) of PC Carigali Mexico Ventures S.A. DE C.V accompanied by Ms. Fariza M. Zanal, Senior Geologist of Petroliam Manpower Services Company; Ms. Puteri Nurlina Mokhtar, Exploration Manager of PC Carigali Mexico Operations; and Ms. Salina Ibrahim, Finance Manager of PC Carigali Mexico Operations. Also present were Mr. Khornelisman Jasri, First Secretary and Mr. Mohd. Hafiz Abdul Jalil, Trade Commissioner of MATRADE Mexico City.
During the Meeting, the Ambassador congratulated PETRONAS as they were among the winning bidders on 19th June 2017 for the 15th exploration blocks located in the Gulf of Mexico which was a part of the National Hydrocarbons Commission of Mexico licensing Round 2.1. It was a consortium of PC Carigali (Malaysia) and Ecopetrol Global (Colombia) that was the winner of Block 6 which hydrocarbon is light oil in shallow waters. Apart from that, PETRONAS also briefed the Ambassador on the progress of setting up its operational office in Mexico City.
