DIPLOMAT OF ASIAN STUDIES, COLMEX-UNAM, SOUTHEAST ASIAN MODULE
On 6 December, H.E. Ambassador Mohammad Azhar Mazlan participated as a panelist in the Diplomat of Asian Studies program organized by the Autonomous National University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Mexican College (COLMEX) at the Mtro. Ricardo Torres Gaitán Auditorium of the Research Economic Institute of UNAM. The purpose was to avail to the students a general idea about the Southeast Asian region through talks given by experts as well as to get to know the ASEAN Embassies in Mexico and study their experiences in Mexico. The five ASEAN Embassies in Mexico (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) as well as H.E. Ambassador Alfonso de Maria y Campus, Director General of Asia Pacific, Ministry of External Relations, Mexico participated as panelists from 8 November to 6 December, sharing their insights, among others, about history; governance; democracy; culture and traditions; Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) and education. Malaysia made a presentation entitled “Culture, Society and International Presence of Malaysia” and a Video entitled “Malaysia for me is”, a documentary of African students living in Malaysia. Lic. Ms. Alma Cervantes, the Program Coordinator, moderated the session with the attendance of more than 30 students and faculty members.
