FIRST INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON CHEMICAL ENGINEERING AT TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF SUPERIOR STUDIES, SAN FELIPE DEL PROGRESO, STATE OF MEXICO
On 31 October, H.E. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico participated in the Opening Ceremony of the 1st International Symposium of Chemical Engineering focusing on `Sustainable Processes in the Chemical Engineering` at the Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores in San Felipe del Progreso, Mexico State. This was preceded by a breakfast meeting at Atlacomulco de Fabebla, State of Mexico with Mtro. Alfonso Cruz Serrano, Director of the Institute.
Present at the event were approximately 500 students and faculty members of the Institute. Also present were Mr. Gavriel Borisov Apostolov, First Secretary Embassy of Bulgaria; Mr. Olegario Romero Lopez, Mayor of San Felipe del Progreso; Mr. Ivan de Jesus Esquer Cruz, Mayor of Jocotitlan; Mr. Jesus Rolando Rangel Espinosa, Mayor of San Jose del Rincon; Mrs. María del Carmen Peña Mercado, Mayor of Acambay; and Mr. Sam Lobo, representative of the Patronal Confederation of the Mexican Republic (COPARMEX) as well as state education officials.
In his remarks (in Spanish) to the audience, the Ambassador among others, touched on the education collaboration between Malaysia and Mexico for mutual benefit. The Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de San Felipe del Progreso, a public institution with an estimate 1,800 engineering students had been participating in the internationalization and mobility programme. Recently, the Institute sent two of its students to Malaysia under the Mobility Programme organized by the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia).
