Alhamdulillah, the two leaders were able to evaluate the cooperation between both nations in various sectors, including trade and investment, higher education, tourism, and climate change.
The discussions also explored potential collaborations in defence, youth and sports, Islamic banking, halal industries, anti-corruption efforts, digital technology, solar energy, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Additionally, regional issues of mutual concern were addressed, such as conflict resolution and humanitarian missions in Myanmar, the genocide in Gaza, and U.S. tariff issues.
Following the bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and President Muizzu witnessed the exchange of three Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) between the two countries, covering areas such as tourism, sports, and healthcare. They also observed the exchange of Notes (EoN) related to Diplomatic Training and the establishment of a Bilateral Consultation Mechanism between Malaysia and the Maldives.
In a press conference, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Malaysia-Maldives relations, aiming for a more strategic and comprehensive partnership.
Insya-Allah, the outcomes of this important discussion will be implemented diligently, systematically, and effectively at the ministry, agency, and stakeholder levels.
