On 18 March 2022, TYT Ambassador Muzafar Shah Mustafa had a meeting with the Federal Deputy Mrs. Gabriela Sodi Miranda who assumed as the new President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group Malaysia-Mexico on 18 March 2022 at the Malaysian Embassy in Mexico City, Mexico. The Meeting was also attended by Mr. Alexei Alonso De los Reyes, Advisor to the International Affairs and Parliamentary Relations Unit of the Chamber of Deputies and Mr. Norafizan Mustaffa, first secretary of the Embassy of Malaysia in Mexico.
The Purpose of the meeting was to chart the direction of the friendship group of the Chamber of Deputies for the 65th Mexican Congress. The Meeting among others discussed possible opportunities for interaction and engagement between the Embassy of Malaysia in Mexico and the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico within the framework of the parliamentary friendship group. This is a continuation of the 64th Parliamentary Friendship Group Malaysia-Mexico which was officially formalized on 11 February 2020 between then-president Mrs. Gómez Maldonado Maiella Martha Gabriela and Ambassador.
In summary, the Meeting has been successful in re-establishing network between the two parties since the election of Mrs. Gabriela Sodi Miranda as the president of the 65th Mexican Legislature of Malaysia-Mexico Friendship Group. Mission is of the view that the engagement with elected members in the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico via this parliamentary friendship group would be paramount in enhancing the awareness among the lawmakers on the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries.
