On 1 September 2018, the Embassy of Malaysia held a ´Merdeka Day´ Celebration and Malaysian Flag Raising Ceremony in conjunction with the 61st Anniversary of the Independence of Malaysia. The event was attended by the staff of the Embassy of Malaysia in Mexico and the Malaysian community in Mexico City.
The event started with the flag raising ceremony, accompanied by the National Anthem ´Negaraku´ and afterwards the song ´Jalur Gemilang´, sung by attendees. It was then proceeded with the speech by TYT Ambassador Muzafar Shah Mustafa. TYT Ambassador shared the gist of YAB Prime Minister´s National Day Message which was conveyed on the eve of 31 August 2018.
The attendees were also entertained with a poem recitation by Adik Aflah Razzuan, a 7-year old son of the Third Secretary of the Embassy of Malaysia in Mexico, entitled “Dakwah”.
And as per the usual gathering here in Mexico City, there were delicious Malaysian cuisines such as “Nasi Lemak”, “Ayam Masak Merah” and other sumptuous delicacies which reminded everyone of our beautiful home sweet home in Malaysia.
