NATIONAL POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE (IPN) VISIT
On 4 March 2016, Ambassador Mohammad Azhar bin Mazlan paid a courtesy call on Dr. Juan Silvestre Aranda Barradas, Postgraduate Director of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), in Mexico City. The Institute the second biggest in the country after the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), published 180,000 publication annually. The aim of the visit was to study the possibility of collaboration with Malaysia`s higher learning institutions.
Dr. Aranda was willing to collaborate with international universities and share IPN´s know-how in innovation technology, which was the core developmental-business of the institution. Ambassador Azhar proposed for IPN to work with Malaysian universities, among others, University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and University Pertanian Malaysia (UPM) in biotechnology & nanotechnology as well as collaboration in aerospace industry between both countries.
Dr. Aranda recorded his interest and was willing to receiving students and lecturers from Malaysia. There were about 600 international students from Central America at IPN every year.
