ORGANISATION OF ISLAMIC CONFERENCE (OIC) COUNCIL
OF AMBASSADORS MEETING
On 5 January, the OIC Council of Ambassadors in Mexico City held its first meeting in 2017 at the Official Residence of the Ambassador of Jordan to Mexico. Present were the Ambassadors of Algeria, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and UAE. Chaired by the Ambassador of Egypt in his capacity as Dean of OIC Ambassadors in Mexico, the meeting discussed among others, the Palestinian cause and relations with Mexico, the Muslim Cemetery in Mexico and the halal certification for Mexico.
H.E. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico took the opportunity to debrief the meeting about the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2334 (2016) on the issue of illegal Israeli settlements. The Ambassador also distributed the copy of the speech by His Excellency Dato` Ramlan Ibrahim, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations, delivered prior to the resolution voting. The meeting congratulated Malaysia and hoped to keep the momentum going for the Palestinian cause.
