SPECIAL BRIEFING SESSION BY MEXICO CITY OFFICIALS
TO THE MALAYSIAN AMBASSADOR AT THE CITY OFFICE

As a follow-up to the courtesy call by Ambassador Mohammad Azhar Mazlan on the Hon. Dr. Miguel Angel Mancera, Mayor of Mexico City on 25 February 2016, the city officials conducted a special briefing session for the Ambassador on 4 May 2016. Also present were Mr. Khornelisman Jasri, Second Secretary and Arq. Claudio Ruz Gutierrez, Director General of Protocol & Diplomatic Mexico City. In the order of presentation was – Dr. Francisco Osuna Sanchez, Executive Director Public Health Service; Hon. Miguel Torruco Marques, Minister of Tourism; and Ms. Eugenia Carolina Rea Gomez and Ms. Marisol Obregon Alvarez, Coordinator Advisor Economic Development. The briefing covered three important sectors of Mexico City namely health, tourism and economy.
As the most visited capital city in Latin America registering 13.1 million visitors last year, Mexico City prides itself with 4 UNESCO sites and 189 museums. In term of economic agenda, Mexico City is positioning itself as a leader in the following sector – biomedical industry, I.T, tourism and creative industries. And one forward-looking health service which had won many international accolades is the `El Medio En Tu Casa` - house-to-house visit by the medical personnel to the infirmed persons free of charges.
The Ambassador and the city officials had a constructive and frank 2-hour discussion with the view of enhancing further the strategic relations between Malaysia and Mexico in general and in particular with Mexico City.
