The 2018 FIRST Global Challenge Robotics competiton was held in Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City from 16-18 August 2018. The Malaysian team comprised five (5) students from Gombak Integrated Fully Residental School (Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Gombak) represented Malaysia in this prestigious competition which saw the participation of more than 165 countries. This year theme focused on the impact of energy to the world and all each team need to solve several robotic problems against other teams.
The Malaysian team won two awards, namely “The Ribbon Safety Award” and the Bronze Medal for the International Enthusiasm Award. During their stay in Mexico City, the Embassy of Malaysia in Mexico assisted the team since their arrival in Mexico City on 13 August 2018 until their departure on 19 August 2018. The Embassy has also arranged for a sight-seeing visit to several places in Mexico City as well as inviting them for a luncheon at the embassy.
