VIRTUAL MEETING BETWEEN TYT AMBASSADOR MUZAFAR SHAH MUSTAFA AND MEXICAN APEC SOM ON MALAYSIA – MEXICO BILATERAL TRADE ISSUES AND APEC SUMMIT PREPARA

On 14 October 2020, TYT Ambassador Muzafar Shah Mustafa held a virtual meeting with Mr. Cesar Manuel Remis Santos, Head of the International Trade Negotiations Unit, Secretariat Economy of Mexico and the Mexican Senior Officials for APEC (SOM). Several issues were discussed including on the general bilateral trade issues between Malaysia and Mexico, CPTPP and APEC.

 

During the meeting, both parties discussed on the opportunities to strengthen the bilateral trade between the two countries and exploring possible cooperation in the future. On Malaysia´s chairmanship of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2020, TYT Ambassador extended his appreciation towards the support given by the Government of Mexico throughout our APEC´s chairmanship thus far. On behalf of the Mexican Government, Mr. Remis has informed that the Government of Mexico is appreciative and supportive of Malaysia´s Chairmanship of APEC in 2020. Both parties also discussed on the finalization of the draft documents for APEC 2020, namely the APEC Post-2020 Vision, the APEC 2020 Leaders´ Declaration and the APEC Ministerial Meeting (AMM) Statement.

 

Malaysia will host the APEC Economic Leaders´ Meeting (ALEM) on 20 November 2020.
