XX DRAWING COMPETITION “THIS IS MY MEXICO”
On 8th April, H.E. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico attended the 20th Drawing Competition Exhibition, at the BATAN Ecological Park, located in the south of Mexico City. It was organized by the Institute of Mexicans Overseas, under the Ministry of External Relations Mexico; inviting children aged 6 to 15 years old from all around the world to draw their impression of Mexico. On this occasion, the Institute received 11,400 drawings from different parts of the world, where 12 drawings were the winners, and 50 were mentioned with honours. Among the 62 drawings exhibited, 6 were from Malaysian children.
The aim was to promote and showcase Mexico from the children’s perspective and display their artworks in Mexico City. The Malaysian winners were: Zerlyride Goik and Zuwer Goik of 12 and 9 years, were between the 12 winners of the competition. Siti Nur Zuldicha, 14 years; Chuo En Yi, 14 years; Atilia Man binti Imtiaz, 14 years; Sam Jin Ye Yung and Kinsey Lee Xing Terr, both 11 years; and Syazana Husna Mohd, 14 years, who were among the 50 drawings mentioned with honours. One entry from Slovakia was also among the 12 winners.
H.E. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan with H.E. Alena Gazúrová, Ambassador of Slovakia to Mexico were the guests of honour and officiated the event with the cutting of the ribbon to open the Exhibition. They also handed over the certificates to the winners. Present also were: Lic. Daniel Álvarez Blasco, Director General of Batan Ecological Park; Lic. Arturo Ríos Camarena, Director of Promotion of Delegations; and Mtro. David Velazco Samperio, Director of the Institute of Mexicans Overseas.
