On Sunday, 16 February 2025, His Excellency Ambassador Dato' Azhar Mazlan attended the 12th Orange Festival in Taxila, accompanied by the Home-Based Staff of the High Commission of Malaysia in Islamabad. His Excellency Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, Governor of Punjab, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Also in attendance were ambassadors, diplomats, and their family members from more than 50 different countries.
Addressing the ceremony, the Governor of Punjab stated that the festival would help highlight the country's positive image. He described the participation of ambassadors and diplomats from friendly countries as a reflection of Pakistan’s successful foreign policy. He noted that the festival’s organization and arrangements would further strengthen friendly relations with brotherly nations. He also emphasized that Pakistan holds a unique position among the nations of the world in terms of its cultural heritage and traditions, describing Pakistani culture as a guardian of historical heritage.
During the festival, the performance of horses dancing to drumbeats, the traditional sport of stone lifting, and the world-famous Khanpuri oranges were the main attractions for the diplomats and their families.
