13TH CONVOCATION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL PUNJAB, LAHORE

On 10 April 2013, His Excellency Dr. Hasrul Sani bin Mujtabar, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, attended the 13th Convocation Ceremony of University of Central Punjab (UCP) at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, Hall, Lahore.  His Excellency was also accompanied by Mr. Imtiaz Rafi Butt, Honorary Consul General of Malaysia in Lahore. Honorable Mr. Mian Amer Mahmood, Chairman Board of Governors was invited as the Chief Guest while His Excellency was invited as the Guest of Honour.

 

A total number of 566 students were awarded degrees in the following Faculties which include 165 graduates of Faculty from Commerce, 351 graduates from UCP Business School, 05 graduates from Faculty of Engineering, 27 graduates from Faculty of Information Technology and 18 students from Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. 

 

During the Ceremony His Excellency gave a speech and stressed that the key to a country's success mainly lies with its education.  His Excellency disclosed that Malaysia spends over US 20 billion dollars annually on education on its population of merely 28 million. He informed the graduates that 70,000 students from all over the world are now studying in different Malaysian universities and the number of Pakistani students is are 3000.  He also welcomed to students that have inclination to do business in Malaysia.  A  Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Malaysian Universities and UCP, Pakistan in field of education is being considered today. Currently 5 Pakistanis graduated from UCP, had done PhD programme in Malaysia.
