From 7 to 9 July 2023, Madam Amelia Azhar and Ambassador Azhar attended the 1st ICCI Tourism Summit Skardu 2023 in Skardu, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. It was attended by Ambassadors and High Commissioners from Bangladesh, Iran, Kenya, Nepal. Somalia, Syria, and Turkiye. Business community of Pakistan also participated in the Summit.
The Summit was a milestone in promoting tourism in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, which boasts the world's highest peaks in the Himalayas, Karakoram Range, and Hindu Kush Mountains. The three-day summit provided an opportunity for Pakistan to showcase the beauty of the northern territory to the world and attract local and foreign tourists and investors. Aside from tourism potential, investors can also benefit from the vast deposits of high-quality marble and granite found in these areas.
Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, President of ICCI expressed special gratitude to the foreign Ambassadors for their participation in the ICCI International Tourism Summit. He emphasized that without their involvement, the summit could not have been successful. He further expressed his satisfaction that ICCI was able to present this remarkable region of Pakistan to the world.
