On Tuesday, 21 January 2025, at the invitation of Islamabad Hockey Association, Ambassador Dato' Azhar Mazlan witnessed the final match of the 2nd Chief of Army Staff Interclub Hockey Championship 2025. The final was played between Nishtar Hockey Club and Rising Star Club at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad. Under the High Commission's sports diplomacy engagement, the Ambassador graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Other present were High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam, Deputy Director General, Pakistan Sports Board, Olympian Shahbaz Ahmad Senior, former hockey player of Pakistan and hockey fans from different walks of life.
In a thrilling contest which was decided by penalty shootouts, Rising Star Club defeated the Nishtar Hockey Club. During the prize distribution ceremony, High Commissioners of Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam jointly handed over the trophy to the winning team and distributed shields to the players.
