“The 35th Session of the D-8 Commission was held from 10th to 11th June 2014 in Islamabad, Pakistan. The meeting was attended by delegates from the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Arab Republic of Egypt, Republic of Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Malaysia, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Turkey. Malaysia was represented by its Commissioner, H.E. Dato’ Ho May Yong, Shaiful Anuar and Aiyub Omar. The meeting was formally opened by H.E. Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs. He stressed that role of D-8 would be crucial to mark changes in the life of peoples in the region and D-8 could be an effective engine of growth. He hoped that the Commission meeting would review the plan of action and its follow-up implementation so that the outcome was effectively translated into the public domain”.
