4TH EDITION OF ISLAMABAD CONCLAVE 2024 ON “PAKISTAN AND THE EVOLVING GLOBAL ORDER”

On Tuesday, 3 December 2024, Ambassador Dato' Azhar attended the 4th Islamabad Conclave organized by the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI). The event, themed “Pakistan and the Evolving Global Order,” featured former Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani as the Chief Guest.

Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, ISSI’s Director General, opened the event, followed by Jalil Abbas Jilani’s address. He commended ISSI’s role in fostering policy dialogue and highlighted global challenges such as major-power rivalries, climate crises, and the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza.

The former Foreign Minister emphasized Pakistan’s strategic importance, nuclear capability, and its forthcoming United Nations Security Council membership. He outlined four key priorities for Pakistan; Upholding international law and the UN Charter, Steering clear of bloc politics, Building peaceful relations with neighbors and Advocating for a fair global order.

Jilani stressed the need for “comprehensive security” focused on human development, prudent management of geopolitics, and a pivot to geo-economics. He urged for proactive and innovative diplomacy to position Pakistan as a prosperous and pivotal nation, offering opportunities for future generations.
