On 8 August 2025, His Excellency Ambassador Dato' Azhar Mazlan attended the celebration of the 58th Anniversary of ASEAN Day, hosted by the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) at the Serena Hotel, Islamabad.

The event was held to commemorate the establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which was founded on 8 August 1967. The celebration was graced by His Excellency Mr. Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Federal Minister for Heritage and Culture of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who attended as the Guest of Honour.

The event brought together approximately 200 guests, including the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Heads of Mission (HOMs) from ASEAN Member States, Dialogue and Sectoral Partners, as well as other ambassadors and dignitaries based in Islamabad.

As part of the celebrations, guests were offered a selection of traditional dishes representing the diverse culinary heritage of ASEAN Member States. Malaysia contributed Nasi Lemak and Kuih Keria Gula Melaka, which were well received by the attendees. The Malaysian booth was beautifully decorated by members of PERWAKILAN, adding a cultural touch to the showcase.

The event served not only to commemorate ASEAN’s 58 years of regional unity and cooperation but also to highlight the strong bonds of friendship and partnership between ASEAN and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
