ASEAN AMBASSADORS WIFE LUNCHEON AT RUMAH MALAYSIA

On 14th January 2010, wife of the High Commissioner of Malaysia, DATIN NORZELAH MOHD ZAKARIA hosted a luncheon for the ASEAN Ambassadors? wife at the residence, Rumah Malaysia.
The luncheon was attended by MADAM UMI KALTHUM of Brunei, MADAM BUTAR LATUCONSINA of Indonesia, MADAM THI DA HTAY of Myanmar and MADAM KIEU THU HIEN of Vietnam. The new Ambassadors of the Philippines and Thailand have yet to arrive in Islamabad. The luncheon was organized by DATIN NORZELAH as a getting to-know-you session since she had just arrived Islamabad only about two months ago. Bonding among ASEAN members has always been a tradition in most postings around the world. It is hoped that the informal gathering of the ASEAN Ambassadors? wife would subsequently lead to a wider circle of relationship within ASEAN members.
The host, as in her other postings, have always made an effort to introduce the wide array of Malaysian cuisine in her functions and this luncheon was no exception. The guests were treated to a authentic Malaysian cuisine, specially prepared by DATIN NORZELAH herself which were made up of Laksa Johor and Kueh Kasui Pandan. Spinach quiche, specially crafted oranges and fruit pudding, which was her late mom?s favourite recipe, were also included in the menu.
The event ended with a Karaoke session and everyone agreed that similar luncheon or events among the ASEAN members should continue in the near future.
