On 19 September 2025, the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) met for the first time under the Chairmanship of its newly appointed Head of Mission, H.E. Mr. Rongvudhi Virabutr, Ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan. The meeting brought together the Heads of Mission of ASEAN member States in Pakistan to deliberate on the Committee’s planned calendar of activities for the upcoming year.
The agenda included discussions on organising trade visits to business chambers, arranging courtesy calls with federal ministers, cultural exchange events, and other initiatives aimed at strengthening ASEAN–Pakistan relations. Malaysia, serving as ASEAN Chair in 2025, reaffirmed its unwavering support for these initiatives, emphasising the importance of fostering closer Malaysia-ASEAN-Pakistan ties through collective action.
Under Ambassador Rongvudhi Virabutr’s leadership, ACI members expressed optimism about the coordination and impact of this year’s programme. They committed to working in unison to ensure each activity is well-executed and contributes meaningfully to advancing relations between ASEAN nations and Pakistan.
