On Monday, 6 May 2024, Mr. Mohd Syafik Firdaus, Charge d’Affaires a.i., attended the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) meeting chaired by H.E. Maria Agnes M. Cervantes, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines at the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines. The meeting was attended by Heads of Mission and CDA from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, along with officials from the ACI working group.
Discussions during the meeting included various ASEAN matters, an assessment of the current security, political, and economic situation in Pakistan, and the planning of ACI activities for the year. Additionally, there were discussions about the planned collaboration between ACI and ISSI through the second ACI-ISSI dialogue, upcoming trade missions, and social activities such as ASEAN movie nights.
Before the meeting began, the Heads of Mission of the ACI also organized a farewell ceremony for His Excellency Mr. Chakkrid Krachaiwong, the Ambassador of Thailand. During the ceremony, they presented him with the ACI memorial plaque as a token of appreciation.
