ASEAN MONTHLY GOLF TOURNAMENT AT THE ISLAMABAD GOLF CLUB ON 16 JULY 2009 On Thursday, 16 July 2009, at 7:00 a.m., the HIGH COMMISSION OF MALAYSIA organized the ASEAN Monthly Golf Tournament for July 2009 at Islamabad Golf Club (IGC). All the ASEAN Heads of Mission, Home-Based Staff (HBS) and fellow Malaysians participated in this monthly golf tournament. HIS EXCELLENCY AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN ABD SAMAD, High Commissioner of Malaysia made a brief remarks on the spirits of ASEAN in Islamabad and was given the honour to Tee-off in the first flight. At the 19th Hole dinner, AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN hosted a dinner at RUMAH MALAYSIA in honour of ASEAN golfers and also the prizes presentation for the winners of the ASEAN Monthly Golf Tournament. In his speech, AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN congratulated the winners and suggested the ASEAN Member States to invite their community, such as the businessmen, investors and corporate sectors in Pakistan to participate in this ASEAN get-together event. On this occasion, AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN took the opportunity to thank the ASEAN Heads of Mission, HBS and its community for partaking the monthly ASEAN event with the sense of togetherness, esprit de corps and, above all, in tandem with the ASEAN vision of ?ONE Vision, ONE Identity, ONE Community.? He further suggested that with the spirits of an ASEAN Community by 2015, a new challenge trophy for the ASEAN Community in Islamabad be established in line with ASEAN's aspirations. As the organizer of this ASEAN Monthly Golf Tournament, he also seized the moment on behalf of the ASEAN Community in Islamabad to bid golf farewell to MR. MOHAMMAD ABU BAKAR, Third Secretary of the High Commission of Malaysia and his family on a pleasant cross-posting to Dublin, Ireland. For the ASEAN July Golf Championship Challenge Trophy, the champion of the tournament went to MR. ABDUL JAFFAR HAJI HUSSIN of the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam; while the first titleholder of the proposed ASEAN COMMUNITY MONTHLY CHALLENGE TROPHY was conferred to ADMIRAL REZA MOHD SANY (Royal Malaysian Navy) of Malaysia.
