On Tuesday, 19 December 2023, Ambassador Azhar received a courtesy call by Sheikh Noman Naeem, President, Jamia Binoria Aalamia (JBA), Karachi and Advocate Rafiq Azam Badshah – Member of the Advisory Board at the High Commission. The purpose of the meeting was to extend an invitation to Ambassador Azhar to the convocation at JBA, Karachi on 27 January 2024.
In his briefing about the institution, Sheikh Noman informed the High Commissioner that Jamia Binoria Aalamia was founded in 1978 and currently over 5,000 students from 67 different countries are studying at the Jamia. He shared that currently, 13 Malaysian students were studying and 4 would be graduating this year. Several students from Malaysia were processing their study visa to join the upcoming academic year. He added that more than 50 alumni are serving in different parts of Malaysia in various fields contributing to the society. Sheikh Noman said that the delegation of JBA visited Malaysia twice to explore collaboration with Malaysian universities. This includes Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), International Islamic University College Selangor (KUIS), International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) & International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
Ambassador Azhar thanked Sheikh Noman for the invitation and expressed his intent to attend the convocation. Both sides also agreed to strengthening ties with the universities of Malaysia and JBA and looking forward to enhance education cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan. The meeting concluded with a positive outlook towards continued collaboration and mutual understanding between the High Commission and JBA.
