On 22 May 2025, Mr. Mohd Syafik Firdaus, Deputy Head of Mission, received a courtesy call from Dr. Ismaila Diallo, Regional Advisor for OIC – Africa, OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), at the High Commission.
During the meeting, Dr. Diallo provided a comprehensive briefing on COMSTECH’s mandate, key initiatives, and ongoing programmes aimed at promoting science and technology across the OIC member states.
Both sides engaged in a fruitful discussion on the importance of enhancing cooperation among Muslim countries in the field of science and technology. Mr. Syafik also emphasised the vital role that scientific and technological development plays in driving socio-economic progress and addressing shared challenges faced by the Muslim world.
Mr. Syafik expressed appreciation for COMSTECH’s efforts and reaffirmed the Mission’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen scientific collaboration and innovation within the OIC framework.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding on the need to explore further avenues of cooperation to promote sustainable development through science, technology, and innovation among OIC member states.
