FEDERAL MINISTER FOR PETROLEUM AND NATURAL RESOURCES ON 21 AUGUST 2009

 

 

 

On Friday, 21 August 2009 at 5:30 p.m., HIS EXCELLENCY AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN ABD SAMAD, High Commissioner of Malaysia, made a courtesy call on HIS EXCELLENCY SYED NAVEED QAMAR, Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan at the Minister’s residence in the Ministers’ Enclave, Islamabad.

 

AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN was accompanied by ENCIK AHMAD AMIRI ABU BAKAR, Head of Chancery of the High Commission of Malaysia and three key representatives from PETRONAS Carigali Pakistan Limited, headed by Acting General Manager, ENCIK GHAZALI MUHAMMAD ZAIN, ENCIK MOHD ADIB ABDULLAH HUDI and ENCIK AHMED SHARYAR.  

 

In essence, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss and resolve two critical pending issues between PETRONAS Carigali and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources. AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN paved the way for PETRONAS Carigali representatives to discuss and negotiate the issues and, thus, at the end of the call, the negotiation was a resounding success.

 

During the meeting, AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN and HIS EXCELLENCY SYED NAVEED QAMAR also discussed issues on bilateral relations, business and investment opportunities between the two countries. AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN further reiterated the importance of Malaysian companies participation in Pakistan’s national, economic and community developments. He also said that under the “1 Malaysia concept, the High Commission of Malaysia and PETRONAS were continuously engaging and working together to strengthen and establish its ‘iconic’ presence in Pakistan.

 

In conclusion, the meeting was held in a friendly, warm and cordial manner, onto which the outcome was an overwhelming success and of mutual benefits to Malaysia and Pakistan.
