On Monday, 30 October 2023, Ambassador Azhar received a courtesy call by 8 - member delegation headed by Mr. Sahibzada Abdul Rehman Afridi, President Grand Jirga of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
During the meeting, Sahibzada Abdul Rehman Afridi briefed Ambassador Azhar about the abolition of the FCR law in 2008 in FATA and explained the structure of the government under FCR and after the emergence of the FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. He also informed the latter on the energy crisis as well as lack of health and education facilities in FATA.
Ambassador Azhar in his response thanked the delegation for visiting the High Commission. He added that he would explore the possibility of visiting FATA to have a clearer picture of the situation in the area.
Both sides also discussed the deteriorating situation in Gaza and condemned Israel's barbaric acts on the people of Palestine and expressed deep concern over the unabated violence and willful, indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians in Gaza by Israeli forces. Sahibzada Abdul Rehman Afridi appreciated Malaysia's role and commended the leadership of Prime Minister of Malaysia in highlighting the Palestinian cause at global level.
