On Wednesday, 6 November 2024, Ambassador Dato' Azhar received a courtesy call by a four 4-member delegation headed by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Mustaffa Mohammad Zain, former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) at the High Commission. Mr. Muhammad Zulasri bin Rosdi, First Secretary of the High Commission was also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, Dato’ Dr. Mustaffa briefed the High Commissioner on their recent visit to Hunza, Gilgit Baltistan and their capacity building programme with hoteliers and restauranteurs of the region on hospitality management. He shared that the workshops focused on improving service quality through practical training in Food and Beverage Service Operations, Housekeeping Operations, and essential communication and confidence-building skills.
Over 75 participants attended the workshops and were awarded certificates by UiTM, marking their commitment to raising service standards in the emerging hospitality sector of Gilgit-Baltistan. Moving forward, the team are planning to participate in the Culinary Fest in Karachi in 2025 and to share their expertise there.
On this occasion, Ambassador Dato’ Azhar appreciated the delegation for their efforts to promote people to people contacts between the two brotherly countries. The High Commissioner also assured full cooperation and support of the High Commission for future undertakings.
