On Thursday, 22 June 2023, Ambassador Azhar received a courtesy call by His Excellency Ambassador (retired) Shahid Masroor Gul Kiani at the High Commission of Malaysia. The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest and explored ways to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan. Ambassador Shahid served as High Commissioner of Pakistan to Malaysia in 2013 -2014.

They also exchanged ideas on how to strengthen existing ties and identify new opportunities for cooperation, leveraging the respective strengths and resources of each country. A proposed series of engagements with Pakistani university students was also discussed.
