ON 13 JANUARY 2009 IN LAHORE

 

 

On Tuesday, 13 January 2009, at 7:45 a.m., HIS EXECLLENCY AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN ABD SAMAD, High Commissioner of Malaysia made a courtesy call on HIS EXCELLENCY MIAN SHAHBAZ SHARIF, Chief Minister of Punjab at the latter's Office in Lahore, Punjab Province in Pakistan. Others present were high-ranking officials of the Government of Punjab and also Madame Lily Khan being the coordinator for the meeting.

 

During the meeting, both had valuable exchanges of wide range of issues and interests between Malaysia and Pakistan, in particular on education, infrastructure, 'Halal' hub capacity on livestock and dairy, tourism, Malacca-Lahore Twin-cities, oil and gas, finance, banking and insurance, IT, energy, public transportation such as monorail and flight connectivity, and business-to-business contacts. Most importantly, AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN had agreed to spearhead proactive mechanisms in terms of its planning, coordination and implementation of prioritized projects towards mutual benefits of the two countries.

In conclusion, the courtesy call by AMABASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN on the Chief Minister of Punjab was comprehensive, productive and successful and, above all, the items discussed would soon be coordinated and implemented in the days to come.
