On Sunday, 12 January 2025, Ambassador Dato' Azhar Mazlan called on YB Dato' Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Na'im Bin Haji Mokhtar, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) at the Islamabad Serena Hotel. The meeting was followed by a dinner hosted by the High Commissioner. The courtesy call took place after the conclusion of the International Conference on Girls' Education in Muslim Communities: Challenges and Opportunities.
During the courtesy call, both parties discussed key issues, including the promotion of women's and children's education within Muslim communities and the challenges faced in ensuring equitable access to education. The discussion also addressed matters concerning Malaysian religious students studying abroad, with a particular focus on Pakistan's educational institutions.
Regional developments, including the situation in Afghanistan, were also deliberated, particularly in relation to its impact on education, religious harmony, and humanitarian needs. The conversation extended to the organization of Hajj, with both parties exchanging insights on enhancing the pilgrimage process for Malaysian pilgrims.
Additionally, opportunities to strengthen collaboration in the halal industry were explored. Both sides emphasized the potential for Malaysia and Pakistan to work together in enhancing halal certification standards and expanding the global market for halal products.
