On 20 May 2025, Mr. Mohd Syafik Firdaus, Deputy Head of Mission attended the International Understanding Program (IUP) in Islamabad. The event was organised by the Pakistan Overseas Women Association (POWA) and brought together diplomats, members of the business community, and civil society representatives to foster cross-cultural dialogue and international cooperation.
During the program, Mr. Syafik delivered a keynote address on the theme of strengthening engagement between foreign missions and the local business community. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of deepening the ties between Malaysia and Pakistan, particularly in the areas of trade and investment.
Mr. Syafik underscored Malaysia’s commitment to enhancing bilateral trade relations with Pakistan, citing existing opportunities and shared economic interests. He also encouraged members of the Pakistani business community to actively explore and engage with ASEAN markets, emphasizing the region’s growing economic significance and Malaysia’s strategic role as a gateway to Southeast Asia.
The event provided a valuable platform for promoting mutual understanding and exploring avenues for international collaboration. The High Commission remains committed to supporting initiatives that foster closer economic and diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Pakistan.
