On 9 July 2025, Mr. Mohd Syafik Firdaus, Deputy Head of Mission met with Mr. Muhammad Awais Satti, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries (ICSTSI), at the Chamber’s office.
The meeting served as a platform for both sides to engage in productive and wide-ranging discussions on matters of mutual interest, with a particular focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and other potential areas of economic collaboration.
During the meeting, Mr. Syafik reaffirmed Malaysia’s steadfast commitment to further strengthening and expanding its multifaceted partnership with Pakistan. He emphasized Malaysia’s interest in exploring new avenues for collaboration, particularly within the small and medium enterprises (SME) sector. Mr. Syafik also highlighted the positive momentum generated by the Official Visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to Pakistan last year, stressing the importance of capitalizing on the outcomes of that visit to advance bilateral cooperation.
Among the key topics discussed were Malaysia’s proposal to increase imports of halal beef from Pakistan and its continued commitment to importing premium-quality Pakistani Basmati rice.
Both parties acknowledged the crucial role played by small traders and industries in driving economic growth and fostering bilateral economic integration. They agreed on the importance of enhancing institutional linkages, facilitating business-to-business engagements, and encouraging participation in trade fairs and investment forums.
This engagement underscores the shared commitment of Malaysia and Pakistan to deepening their long-standing relationship, which is anchored in mutual respect, shared economic interests, and close people-to-people ties.
