ECONOMIC DIALOGUE WITH THE FEDERAL MINISTER FOR INVESTMENT OF PAKISTAN

On 1 November 2025, His Excellency Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, participated in an ASEAN–Pakistan Economic Dialogue chaired by Pakistan’s Minister for Investment, Mr. Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh. 

The meeting brought together envoys from seven ASEAN member countries — including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Brunei — to explore new avenues of investment and economic cooperation.

During the discussions, H.E. Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with Pakistan and supporting collaborative efforts that promote sustainable and inclusive growth across the region. He commended Pakistan’s work to create investor-friendly policies and structural reforms aimed at attracting foreign direct investment, particularly through Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

Minister Qaiser briefed the ASEAN delegation on the government’s initiatives to enhance trade and investment linkages, improve connectivity, and simplify investment procedures to create a more enabling environment for foreign investors.

The ASEAN envoys appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to foster regional economic integration, with H.E. Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan expressing optimism about expanding Malaysia–Pakistan cooperation within the ASEAN framework to boost mutual prosperity and regional development.
