On Wednesday, 6 September 2023, Ambassador Azhar visited the TNB REMACO Balloki Power Plant, Pattoki, Punjab.  The purpose of the visit was to have a detailed briefing on the on-going project of TNB Remaco Balloki Power Plant.  The visit started with an Official Welcoming Ceremony where the National Anthem of Malaysia "Negaraku" was played followed by National Anthem of Pakistan. The Project Manager introduced the High Commissioner with the management and the technical staff of the power plant. He briefed about the environment of the plant as well about the safety measures.

Mr. Mhd Shukree Bin Shahabudin, Plant General Manager apprised the High Commissioner that O&M (Operations and Maintenance) contractor for Balloki Power Plant is TNB REMACO, a subsidiary of Malaysia’s leading power company Tenaga Nasional Berhad. He informed the High Commissioner that the 1223 MW Balloki combined-cycle gas-fired power plant bridges the energy shortfall in Pakistan as one of the most efficient power plants. The plant entered commercial operation in July 2018 and generates the power to supply more than six million Pakistani homes. The plant utilizes two high-efficiency General Electric 9HA.01 gas turbines, one steam turbine and associated equipment. The turbine combustion system provides dual fuel capability with R-LNG being the primary fuel, while high-speed diesel serves as the backup fuel. In an R-LNG fired combined cycle operation, the plant has an efficiency of greater than 61%.

Ambassador Azhar thanked Mr. Mhd Shukree bin Shahabudin and his team for arranging the briefing and site visit. He appreciated their commendable work in flying the Malaysia's flag high in Pakistan particularly among the local community.
