From 27 to 30 April 2026, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, participated in the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) Heads of Mission (HOM) visit to Lahore, aimed at strengthening regional engagement and enhancing economic, academic, and cultural linkages between ASEAN and the Province of Punjab.

The visit, coordinated under the ACI framework, brought together ASEAN Heads of Mission for a series of high-level engagements and site visits, reflecting ASEAN’s collective commitment to deepening cooperation with Pakistan at both federal and provincial levels.

In advancing economic diplomacy, His Excellency participated in the ASEAN Roundtable and Hot Seat Dialogue at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), where discussions focused on industrial collaboration, trade facilitation, and new avenues for partnership between ASEAN and Pakistani businesses.

Academic engagement formed another important pillar of the visit, with participation in a programme at the University of the Punjab. The session highlighted the role of education and people-to-people exchanges in strengthening ASEAN–Pakistan relations, while also showcasing cultural linkages through student-led performances.

In addition to official engagements, the programme incorporated cultural visits to iconic landmarks in Lahore, including the Wagah Border and Shalimar Gardens, reflecting the rich heritage of Punjab and further promoting mutual understanding between ASEAN and Pakistan.

Overall, the ACI HOM visit to Lahore reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment, alongside fellow ASEAN missions, to enhancing multifaceted cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in areas of trade, education, and cultural exchange, in line with broader regional engagement efforts.
