On 16 August 2025, The Kelab STMI organised the Majlis Peluncuran Bulan Kebangsaan dan Kibar Jalur Gemilang 2025, marking the official commencement of Malaysia’s National Month celebrations in Pakistan.
The event, held at the High Commission of Malaysia, Islamabad, began with the singing of Malaysia’s national anthem "Negaraku", followed by opening remarks by His Excellency Ambassador Dato' Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, who also serves as the Patron of Kelab STMI (Kelab Sukan dan Kebajikan Warga Suruhanjaya Tinggi Malaysia Islamabad).
In his address, the High Commissioner emphasised the importance of commemorating Malaysia’s independence and fostering patriotism, even while serving abroad. He underscored that this year’s theme, "Malaysia Madani, Rakyat Disantuni" reflects Malaysia’s ongoing commitment to unity, inclusivity, and progress. He also encouraged all officers and staff to continue embodying the spirit of Malaysia through teamwork, community spirit, and excellence in service.
The launch ceremony was followed by a Sports Day, where officers, local staff, and their family members participated in a variety of friendly competitions including badminton, table tennis, cricket, carrom, and chess, among others. The activities were aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles, enhancing team bonding, and reinforcing the spirit of unity in conjunction with the Merdeka celebrations.
The High Commission’s observance of Bulan Kebangsaan serves as an important reminder of the shared national identity and dedication of Malaysians serving overseas. The event also forms part of a series of activities planned throughout the month of August to celebrate Malaysia’s 68th Independence Day, which falls on 31 August 2025.
The High Commission extends its appreciation to all who contributed to the success of today’s event and calls upon Malaysians in Pakistan to proudly display the Jalur Gemilang and actively participate in the National Month celebrations.
