On Thursday, 6 July 2023, Ambassador Azhar held a meeting with Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, the Director General of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) at the latter’s office. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss various matters of mutual interest and explore new avenues to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan.
During the meeting, discussions focused on several important topics, including cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan think tanks, knowledge sharing and the launch of an ASEAN book corner at ISSI. Additionally, the two ambassadors deliberated on how both Malaysia and Pakistan could further assist Afghanistan in terms of humanitarian and economic development. Recognizing the significance of regional stability and development in Afghanistan, they agreed on the need to engage Afghanistan in its efforts to reconstruct and rebuild the country.
Overall, the meeting between Ambassador Azhar and Ambassador Sohail Mahmood served as a platform to strengthen bilateral ties, explore new areas of cooperation, and discuss initiatives to foster regional stability and development.
