On 13 September 2012, His Excellency Dr. Hasrul Sani bin Mujtabar, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan accompanied by Mr. Rezaldi bin Zaini, First Secretary of Malaysia, met Mr. Yasar Sakhi Butt, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Islamabad at his office. The purpose of the meeting was to promote greater economic ties between Malaysia and Pakistan and to take advantage of the signing of the Malaysia - Pakistan Closer Economic Partnership Agreement (MPCEPA) signed in January 2008. Last year, the current trade between both countries was recorded at US 2.8 billion. His Excellency mentioned that Pakistan is Malaysia’s second largest trading partner among South Asian countries and is also the 21st largest trading partner globally. Both parties also discussed the possibilities to enhance greater facilitation of visas to Pakistani businessmen.
