In promoting aggressively more business ties, on 11 February 2013, His Excellency Dr. Hasrul Sani bin Mujtabar, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, met Mr. Farooq Iftikhar, President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Lahore at his office. Also present were members of the LCCI. Both discussed about increasing the trade volume between Malaysia and Pakistan. Both also agreed that other than palm oil and rice, the scope should also be widened including on steel industry, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, live stock and halal foods. His Excellency also mentioned about establishment of the Pakistan – Malaysia Business Council (Northern Chapter) in Islamabad which will further boost in strengthening economic relations between the two countries. Both parties also discussed the possibilities to enhance greater facilitation of visas to Pakistani businessmen. LCCI also offered site for Malaysia and other ASEAN+3 countries to invest in its new industrial site near Raiwind, Lahore.
