In collaboration with Islamabad Serena Hotel, the High Commission of Malaysia introduced Pakistani taste buds with the exquisite flavours of Malaysian cuisine. The culinary extravaganza, known as the ‘Flavours of Malaysia was inaugurated on 15 September 2023 at Zamana Restaurant.
The Food Festival was jointly inaugurated for the public by H.E. Ambassador Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia and Mr. Aziz Boolani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Islamabad Serena Hotel. The highlight of the event was the presence of renowned Malaysian Chef Rizal Bin Masir, who has specially flown in from Malaysia to curate the Malaysian culinary experience.
This 7-day festival from 15 to 21 September, 2023 was a celebration of the enduring friendship and collaboration between Malaysia and Pakistan, spanning 66 years. In addition to the mouth-watering dishes, the festival mesmerized attendees with captivating cultural dance performances by Majlis Seni Sarawak, representing the diverse regions and cultures of Malaysia. The performances include Melayu, Iban, Melanau, Bidayau, and Orang Ulu, offering a glimpse into Malaysia’s culture.
On this occasion, Ambassador Azhar extended his gratitude for the collaboration and highlighted the longstanding relationship and cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan based on shared values and mutual interests.
Mr. Aziz Boolani, praised the collaboration with the High Commission of Malaysia for fostering cultural exchange and strengthening the bond between the two nations. Otto Kurzendorfer, General Manager of Islamabad Serena Hotel expressed delight in bringing Chef Rizal Bin Masir and the Malaysian cultural troupe to Pakistan, sharing the magic of Malaysian cuisine and culture with Pakistani patrons.
